Folclore

El folclore inglés se ha ido desarrollando a lo largo de muchos siglos. Algunos de los personajes y las historias están presentes a través de Inglaterra, pero la mayoría pertenecen a regiones específicas.

Del folclore o tradición común proceden los duendes, gigantes, cocos, trolls y enanos. Si bien muchas leyendas y costumbres populares se cree que son antiguas, por ejemplo, los cuentos con Offa de Anglia y Weyland Smith, y que en otro tiempo, a partir y después de la invasión Normanda, existe la fantasía de Robin Hood y sus Felices Hombres de Sherwood y sus batallas con el sheriff de Nottingham es quizás el cuento más conocido.

Durante la Alta Edad Media las historietas procedentes de tradiciones Británicas entraron en el folclore inglés como es el conocido mito del rey Arturo.
