Within the Spanish language spoken in Europe ( Spain and Andorra ) and Africa (Spanish dependencies in Africa) is considered that there are two major dialect areas : the northern and southern varieties-Some authors also speak to the Castilian dialect spoken in areas of Catalan language and Galician . In urban areas of Spain currently dialects tend to be more homogeneous, plus the literacy of the population, development and expansion of the media , especially the spoken (television and radio), and the profusion of literature since the mid the twentieth century have made the use of a homogeneous Spanish peninsular deal with regional dialects, which tend to disappear more and more frequent. All dialects of Castilian in Spain are mutually intelligible to each other, although sometimes there is some difficulty in understanding between speakers of both regions.
