Inglaterra (en inglés, England) es una de las cuatro naciones constituyentes del Reino Unido. Su territorio está formado geográficamente por la parte sur y central de Gran Bretaña, isla que comparte junto a Escocia y Gales, y cerca de 100 islas más pequeñas como las Islas Sorlingas y la Isla de Wight. Limita al norte con Escocia, al oeste con Gales —sus dos fronteras terrestres—, al noroeste con el mar de Irlanda, al suroeste con el mar Celta, al este con el mar del Norte y al sur con el canal de la Mancha.

El territorio de la actual Inglaterra ha estado habitado por varias culturas desde hace cerca de treinta y cinco mil años, pero toma su nombre de los anglos, uno de los pueblos germánicos que se establecieron en el lugar durante los siglos V y VI. Its territory is geographically formed by the southern and central part of Great Britain , an island that shares with Scotland and Wales , and about 100 smaller islands such as the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight . Bordered on the north by Scotland , the west by Wales -two terrestrial-northwest borders with the Irish Sea to the southwest with the Celtic Sea , to the east by the North Sea and on the south by the English Channel .

The territory of present England has been inhabited by various cultures for about thirty-five thousand years ago, but it takes its name from the Angles , one of the Germanic tribes who settled in the place during centuries V and VI . It became a unified state in the year 927 and from the Age of Discovery , which began in the fifteenth century , has had a large cultural and legal impact worldwide. The English language , the Anglican Church and the law of England , used as the basis for the legal system of many countries around the world-developed in England, and the parliamentary system of government have been widely adopted by other nations.
